Antigen Preparation
"A synthetic peptide LP YTY LDP PLI ENS VSI corresponding to the internal portion of human LOX2 protein sequence. It is identical sequence among human, mice and rat."
Background
15-LOX-2 is a member of the lipoxygenase family of structurally related nonheme iron dioxygenases involved in the production of fatty acid hydroperoxides. This catalyzes the dioxygenation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and are upregulated in human alternatively activated macrophages (AAMs) induced by Th2 cytokine interleukin-4 (IL-4) and/or interleukin-13. 15-lipoxygenases (15-LOXs) have been implicated in various macrophage functions including efferocytosis and ferroptosis. It plays an important role in cholesterol homeostasis and CCL17 production in human macrophages.
